Fomo app review: fees, custody and who it's for

Fomo app review: 0.50% fee (0.45% with referral), Solana gas covered, debit card and Apple Pay deposits, a social trading feed and Privy self-custody wallets.

Key takeaways

  • Fomo is a mobile-first memecoin app (iOS, Android and web) that trades tokens on Solana, Base, BNB Chain, Monad, Ethereum and Robinhood Chain from one USDC cash balance.
  • The standard fee is 0.50% per trade, 0.45% with a referral code. Solana gas is included, but orders under 190 USDC on Solana pay flat or 2% fees that work out higher.
  • Wallets are non-custodial and run on Privy. There's no seed phrase, login is via Apple ID or Google, and private keys can be exported.
  • It's built for social discovery (a live feed, trade theses, a PnL leaderboard), not deep research. Fomo says outright it has no copy trading feature.

Fomo is the easiest way to buy memecoins from a phone. You sign up with Apple ID or Google, fund with a debit card or Apple Pay, and trade tokens on six chains from one balance, without handling seed phrases or gas tokens. The trade-offs: a 0.50% fee that works out much higher on small Solana orders, thin research tools compared with desktop terminals, and a social feed that makes it easy to chase other people’s trades. It suits newer traders who value convenience. Researchers and high-volume traders will do better elsewhere.

How much does Fomo charge?

Fomo’s trading fees page sets two structures, depending on the chain.

On Solana, the fee depends on order size, and Fomo pays gas, priority fees and token rent for you:

Order sizeFeeEffective rate on example
Under 5 USDCFlat 0.10 USDC$0.10 on $4 = 2.5%
5 to 47.50 USDC2%$0.50 on $25 = 2%
47.50 to 190 USDCFlat 0.95 USDC$0.95 on $50 = 1.9%, on $150 = 0.63%
190 USDC and above0.50%$2.50 on $500 = 0.5%

On Base, BNB Chain, Monad, Ethereum and Robinhood Chain, the fee is a flat 0.50%, with network fees on top. The network fee appears in your quote before you confirm.

A handful of major tokens carry a reduced 0.05% fee, with a minimum of no more than 0.50 USDC on orders under 1,000 USDC.

What this means in practice: a trader making $25 test buys pays 2% in, 2% out, so a 4% round trip before the price moves at all. Above 190 USDC, Fomo’s 0.50% is half of what GMGN charges and competitive with other Solana terminals, and it includes gas. Signing up with a referral code takes the standard rate to 0.45%. The Fomo referral code page has worked examples.

How deposits and withdrawals work

This is Fomo’s biggest advantage over wallet-based terminals. According to the deposit guide, you can fund in four ways:

  1. Debit card. Lands in your cash balance as USDC, usually within minutes. Only bank-issued debit cards work. Prepaid cards, Apple Cash, PayPal, Venmo and Cash App are declined.
  2. Apple Pay. Buys a specific token directly, rather than topping up your cash balance. Coinbase processes it in the background, and there are weekly and total transaction limits shown on the deposit screen.
  3. Pay with Coinbase. Funds from an existing Coinbase account.
  4. USDC from any wallet or exchange, on Solana, Base, BNB Chain, Monad or Ethereum. Select the same network in Fomo that you send from. Robinhood Chain is the exception: it takes USDG (minimum 0.50 USDG), which converts into Solana USDC.

Card and Apple Pay availability depend on the payment provider in your country. USDC deposits work wherever Fomo does.

Withdrawals: you can send USDC out on any of the six chains (USDG on Robinhood Chain) to a wallet or exchange. Bank withdrawals are US-only and need a one-time ID check through Fomo’s partner Spritz. Regular transfers take 1 to 3 business days. A faster same-day option costs extra.

Two small annoyances: the minimum sell is 2 USDC (5 USDC on Ethereum), and positions below that become “dust” that can only be moved by exporting your key to another wallet.

The social feed: Fomo’s core feature

Fomo is built around watching other traders:

  • Live feed: every trade on the platform appears in real time, with the trader, token, size and PnL. You can filter to Friends only.
  • Theses: traders attach a written take of up to 700 characters to a position. By default, the token feed only shows theses on positions around 1,000 USDC or larger, which filters out a lot of low-effort posts.
  • Leaderboard: ranks every user by realised and unrealised PnL over 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days or all time.
  • Follow and notifications: follow a trader and get alerts when they trade.
  • Send by username: transfer USDC or verified Solana tokens to another user.

Despite how it’s often marketed, Fomo has no copy trading. Its help centre says so directly. Following gives you a notification, then you decide and buy yourself, usually after the trader already has. On a thin memecoin, that delay can mean you’re the one buying their exit.

A leaderboard also shows survivors. The trader at the top of the 7-day board may simply have taken the most risk that week.

Research and safety tools

Fomo’s token pages are simple compared with GMGN or Axiom. What you get:

  • Verification badges. A blue checkmark means Fomo’s team reviewed the token. To be eligible, a token needs at least $1M daily volume, a $5M market cap and 1,000 holders. Newly graduated launchpad tokens always start unverified, with a pop-up warning.
  • Warning labels from automated checks for sell-blocking contracts, illiquid pools or developers pulling liquidity. You have to tap “I understand” to trade a flagged token.
  • Holder data with positions and PnL.

What’s missing: no detailed contract breakdown, no insider or sniper tagging, no limit orders or auto take-profit for spot tokens described in the help centre. If you want to vet a token properly, check it on a dedicated screener first. Our GMGN review walks through a vetting routine.

Perps on Fomo

Fomo routes perpetual futures through Hyperliquid. You move USDC from your cash balance into a separate perps balance (minimum 5 USDC in, 2 USDC out, 15 USDC minimum position). Fomo takes 0.05% per trade on top of Hyperliquid’s own fees, and funding is paid hourly. Maximum leverage is 40x on BTC, 25x on ETH, 20x on SOL and 10x on most altcoins.

At 40x, a move of about 2.5% against you wipes out the position. Perps and Robinhood stock tokens aren’t available to US persons.

Is Fomo safe?

Custody. Fomo is non-custodial. Your wallets are generated by Privy, and the private key is split into shares so no single party, Fomo included, holds the whole key. It’s only reassembled in a secure hardware environment to sign. You log in with Apple ID or Google, and Face ID is required on iPhone to withdraw or export keys. Unlike GMGN, you can export your key and leave.

Your login is your wallet. Whoever controls your Google or Apple account has a path to your funds, so turn on two-factor authentication there. Signing in with a different account creates a new, empty Fomo account, which confuses people who think their funds have vanished.

Execution. Trades route through DFlow, which Fomo says helps prevent front-running. You don’t sign token approvals, which removes one common drainer vector.

The terms. Fomo’s terms put responsibility for wallet security on you, and let Fomo change fees and referral terms without notice.

The tokens. Most memecoins on any platform end near zero, and honeypots can trap funds permanently. Fomo’s labels catch many, not all. Treat what you deposit as money you can lose completely. For custody risks across bots and terminals, see Are Telegram trading bots safe?

Pros and cons

ProsCons
Card and Apple Pay deposits, US bank withdrawalsSmall Solana orders pay 2% or flat fees
One balance across six chains, no bridgingNo copy trading, limit orders or deep token analytics

Non-custodial with key exportAccount security rests on your Apple ID or Google login
Social feed and leaderboard for discoverySocial feed encourages chasing trades late

Who should use Fomo

Use it if you want to trade memecoins from your phone with minimal setup, fund with a card, and follow other traders’ moves across chains.

Skip it if you trade many small positions (the fee bands hurt), want sniping, copy trading or detailed holder analysis, or live outside the US and need fiat withdrawals.

Verdict

Fomo is the most convenient way to buy a memecoin in 2026: card in, token bought, keys exportable, gas handled on Solana. Its fee is fair above 190 USDC and steep below it, and its social tools are better for discovery than for timing. If that fits how you trade, sign up for Fomo and keep orders above the flat-fee bands. If you want a desktop terminal with more data, compare it with Axiom and GMGN in our Axiom vs GMGN vs Fomo guide.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Fomo app legit?

Fomo is a real trading app available on the App Store, Google Play and fomo.family. Its wallets are non-custodial, run on Privy's infrastructure, and trades settle on-chain. That makes it legit as a tool, but most tokens traded on it are high-risk memecoins.

What are Fomo's fees?

Fomo charges 0.50% per trade (0.45% with a referral code). On Solana, orders under 190 USDC use flat bands: 0.10 USDC under 5 USDC, 2% from 5 to 47.50 USDC, and 0.95 USDC from 47.50 to 190 USDC. Perps cost 0.05% per trade plus Hyperliquid's fees.

Does Fomo have copy trading?

No. Fomo's help centre says it doesn't offer copy trading. You can follow traders, get notifications when they trade and see their positions, but every trade is your own decision.

Can I withdraw from Fomo to my bank?

Only to US bank accounts, after identity verification through Fomo's partner Spritz. Regular bank withdrawals take 1 to 3 business days. Outside the US, you withdraw USDC to a crypto wallet or exchange instead.

Can I export my Fomo private key?

Yes. Fomo lets you export your private keys from Settings (or fomo.family/export-key) after biometric confirmation, so you can move the wallet into another app.
